A Bat Mitzvah That Started OneFamily
OneFamily began when Michal Belzberg chose to cancel her Bat Mitzvah celebration in Jerusalem and donate the money to help victims of a terror attack. Your own celebration can continue that tradition of giving.
Celebrate your Bar or Bat Mitzvah by helping another child celebrate theirs. Sponsor a celebration, organise a fundraiser, or create your own mitzvah project with OneFamily to support Israeli children and families affected by terror or war.
- Sponsor a Celebration — Help an Israeli child celebrate their Bar or Bat Mitzvah through our twinning program.
- Organise a Fundraiser — Bring friends and family together to support OneFamily.
- Create Your Own Project — Turn something you love into a way to give back.
What Is Twinning?
Twinning connects your family with an Israeli child affected by terror or war and helps fund their Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration.
You can sponsor the celebration as a gift or involve your child in raising the money. Your family will receive a twinning certificate and information about your Israeli twin. The experience can be as private or interactive as your family wishes.
What Your Gift Provides
Your donation of $2,000 helps provide:
- A celebration with food, cake, a venue, and photos
- New clothing and accessories for the child
- A chance to celebrate with family and friends
This is not just a donation. It’s a connection. It’s a statement of empathy and unity — from one Jewish family to another, from one child stepping into adulthood to one learning how to stand again.

Stay Connected Beyond the Celebration
Many families choose to stay connected with their twin beyond the simcha. You can also:
- Sponsor Big Brother/Big Sister mentorship each year – $2,500
- Provide tefillin for a Bar Mitzvah boy – $1,000
- Send your twin to therapeutic camp three times a year, each year – $1,200
- These additional gifts can be one-time or recurring annually — creating a lasting relationship that grows as your children grow.

Sponsorship Opportunities
On March 6, 2024, 20 women from Great Neck, Long Island sponsored an uplifting and heartwarming bat mitzvah party for 22 terror victims through OneFamily. While the girls are all newly bereaved and grieving, it is important to celebrate their milestone with lots of joy and love. Mission accomplished! “It really brought joy to all the bat mitzvah girls.
And our ladies said it was one of the best experiences they ever had. It was worth coming to Israel even if that was the only thing they did on the trip. What an honor it was to partner with you on something so special. We hope we can join you for other nice events in the future.” Tony, from Great Neck
