Support Groups

A Place to Talk, Listen and Be Understood

Losing someone or surviving a terror attack can feel incredibly isolating. Even with family and friends around, it can be difficult to talk about what you’ve been through.

OneFamily’s support groups bring together people who have experienced similar losses, giving them a place to talk openly with others who understand.

Support From People Who Have Been There

OneFamily organizes groups for bereaved parents, widows and widowers, bereaved siblings, wounded survivors and other family members affected by terror.

Led by professionals experienced in grief and trauma, the groups give participants an opportunity to talk about what they’re going through, ask questions and hear from others facing similar challenges.

There is no pressure to speak. Some people are comfortable sharing right away, while others prefer to listen.

Connections Beyond the Group

Groups meet regularly and cover subjects that aren’t always easy to discuss with friends or family, including parenting after loss, changing relationships, difficult anniversaries and everyday life.

As people get to know one another, friendships often develop outside the meetings. Participants stay in touch, check in on each other and sometimes become part of one another’s lives well beyond the group itself.
