At the heart of many OneFamily programs are the relationships that form between people who truly understand one another.
Bereaved mothers are connected with other bereaved mothers. Bereaved fathers with other bereaved fathers. Widows and widowers with others facing similar loss. Children, siblings, and young adults are connected with others in similar stages of life and experiences. These groups create a space where people feel understood in a way that can be difficult to find elsewhere.
Over the years, many unique groups and communities have formed through these connections. Bereaved fathers have come together through music and singing. Bereaved mothers have found comfort in cooking together and sharing family recipes, memories, and stories through collaborative projects. Children who lost both parents have grown up alongside others who truly understand their experience and the challenges that come with it.
Some groups meet for conversation and emotional support, while others connect through retreats, workshops, travel, creative projects, and various activities.
These groups are supported by experienced professionals, but what often matters most is the connection between the participants themselves. People share their stories, support one another, speak openly, and slowly build relationships rooted in trust, understanding, and shared experience.
Some moments are heavy and emotional. Others are filled with laughter, friendship, and the relief of no longer feeling alone. Over time, many participants become part of one another’s lives, standing beside each other through difficult moments, milestones, and joyful occasions in the years ahead.
For many people, these groups become far more than a place of support. They become a lasting source of friendship, comfort, strength, and belonging.
