Our Story

OneFamily began with a decision made by a twelve-year-old girl.

In August 2001, Michal Belzberg was preparing for her Bat Mitzvah in Jerusalem when a suicide bombing struck the Sbarro restaurant. Fifteen people were killed and more than 100 were injured.

In the aftermath, Michal made an unexpected decision — to cancel her celebration and donate the funds to the victims. She also asked friends and family to contribute what they had planned to give her.

Together, they raised over $100,000.

But it quickly became clear that the need went far beyond immediate financial help.

Through that moment, the Belzberg family came face to face with families living with profound grief, trauma, and ongoing hardship. They saw not only the immediate devastation, but the long and often invisible process that followed — without structured, long-term support.

At the time, there was no framework in Israel — or anywhere in the world — providing long-term, comprehensive support for victims of terror.

That was the beginning of OneFamily.

What began as a personal initiative has grown into a nationwide organization supporting thousands of Israelis across the country — wounded survivors, orphaned children, parents, siblings, and spouses rebuilding their lives after loss.
